Alex produced video journalism for The Boston Globe, where she won an Emmy Award for video editing for a documentary about sexual assault survivors. Her passion for documentary film began while she was earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in mass communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. In college, she was sent to Chiapas, Mexico to photograph stories about women’s rights and access to reproductive health care. She also worked on four independent documentaries in varying roles including director, director of photography and producer. Her work has appeared on HBO, The Boston Globe, Center for Public Integrity, Al Jazeera America and The Today Show, among others.
Alex is currently the managing director for Scale Storytelling, a visual storytelling company that produces documentary visuals for socially responsible organizations. She is also the visuals co-editor for Carnegie-Knight News21, an investigative journalism project based at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
